Abstract of the talk: Government of India has published Vision 2035 document which provides an insight to:
i) strengthening manufacturing base through innovation driven processes, sustainable, clean, safe, inclusive, smart and integrated mobility system. Towards this vision, in a recent address to the Nation by our Hon'ble Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modiji, he focussed on technology driven supply chain, to improve the economy of the country.

In the recent past, technological innovations are seen in Supply Chain Management which encompasses including (Near) live analysis of large volume of (non) structured data using Big data & cloud computing, Mobile applications to provide (process) information anytime & anywhere, Mass customization of products to individual customer needs using 3D printing & scanning,

Machines with own intelligence to perform high-value tasks using Robots and Cobots, Seamless integration of machines / objects into the information network using IoT, M2M communication & Autonomous Vehicles, Direct contact of customer and a rich pool of information via Social Media, Proactive risk management using Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics.

Supply chain 4.0 is the application of above technologies to significantly improve the performance and customer satisfaction. Digitization brings Supply Chain 4.0, which will be faster, more flexible, more granular, more accurate and more efficient. Supply Chain Management has six dimensions in terms of use of digital technology. Digital Performance Management, Digital IT & Technology, Digital Supplier, Digital Production System, Digital Logistics & Inventory and Digital Customers. Use of portfolios of application of Supply Chain 4.0 will be discussed to improving demand forecasting accuracy, improving supplier delivery performance, minimizing supplier risk, improving supply chain management performance, visual pattern recognition in physical inspection and maintenance of physical assets, greater contextual intelligence for lower inventory and quicker response times, new patterns in usage data via IoT sensors, improving production planning and finally, providing end-to-end visibility across many supply chains.
